From the OXO Museum we have promoted a very special campaign: (re)defining the video game in an open, participative and plural way. We have the main actors of the sector, in this case, Dr. Alberto Murcia representing the network of academics and researchers of the video game DIGRA Spain. Alberto Murcia (Madrid, 1979) holds a PhD cum laude in Humanities from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. His doctoral thesis dealt with the mental disposition of counterfactual thinking and its application to virtual history. Since then, his lines of research have pivoted between cultural studies, studies on new technologies and philosophy of mind. He is accredited as Profesor Contratado Doctor by ANECA.
He works at ESIC University, Carlos III University and collaborates with other teaching centres. Among others, he teaches Ethics of Technology, Logic and Argumentation and Digital Culture. He has worked as a freelance for publications such as Irispress, Canino, Anaitgames or The State of Mind. He curated the exhibition “Video games, the two sides of the screen” for Fundación Telefónica in 2019, as well as director of “Encounters with aliens, science and art” for Amigos del Reina Sofía in 2021. He has been director of the Video Game Screenwriting Workshop for the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid since 2018. cultural studies, new technology studies and philosophy of mind.
