WHAT IS OXO LEGENDS?

OXO LEGENDS is an initiative of OXO Museo del Videojuego conceived to celebrate the universe of videogames and pay tribute to those who make it possible. In this first edition, the museum presents a unique event that recognises the trajectory of the great figures whose work has been decisive for the growth, innovation and consolidation of the sector throughout their professional careers.

This tribute is born from the desire to highlight the creativity, innovation and legacy of those who have driven the evolution of the industry, placing Malaga as a cultural and technological reference worldwide. The cultural value of video games today is undeniable: it is art, narrative, engineering and collective memory. With OXO LEGENDS, OXO Museo del Videojuego reaffirms its commitment to the dissemination and celebration of video games as a global cultural phenomenon, honouring the pioneers whose vision has left an indelible mark.

THE LEGEND OF THE YEAR

The first honoree of OXO LEGENDS is Alexey Pakhitnov, creator of one of the most influential and universal video games in history: Tetris. A designer, mathematician and pioneer in the development of logic puzzles applied to digital entertainment, Pajitnov transformed the way we play games forever thanks to a simple, elegant idea with global impact.

Since its launch in 1984, Tetris became a cultural phenomenon that transcended platforms, generations and languages. Its timeless design, its ability to unite millions of players and its direct influence on the development of the modern video game have made it one of the most relevant titles of all time.

This tribute celebrates not only the genius of its creator, but also the lasting legacy of a work that remains an essential part of videogame culture and a masterful example of how a brilliant idea can transcend any frontier.

THE CEREMONY

THE OXO LEGENDS GALA

The first edition of OXO LEGENDS will take place on 6 December 2025 at 19:00h at the Edgar Neville Auditorium in Malaga, in a gala designed to celebrate the figures who have marked the history of video games and to consolidate the city as a cultural and technological reference at international level.

The gala will include the presentation of the award winner, a look at his career and the story behind the creation of Tetris, as well as the formal presentation of the first prize. OXO LEGENDS. In addition, the event will feature the participation of Henk Rogers, The Perfect Game: Tetris: From Russia With Love“, a book that tells the story of the extraordinary odyssey that made the game a worldwide phenomenon.

The evening will conclude with a Q&A session in which the audience will be able to talk directly with Alexey Pajitnov, offering a unique opportunity to meet one of the most influential creators in the medium.

OXO Museo del Videojuego reaffirms its commitment to the dissemination, the video game culture and the recognition of those who have contributed decisively to its evolution and global expansion.
